Features to know about

Free Up Your Truck Bed: Replace Bulky Fifth Wheel Hardware with a Gooseneck Connection

When you’re ready to ditch the heavy fifth wheel hitch and open up your bed space, this Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box makes it simple. It replaces your trailer’s Lippert 1116 or 1716 pin box so you can tow your fifth wheel directly with your gooseneck hitch. No extra adapters, no heavy hardware taking up your bed—just a clean, straightforward hookup that leaves your bed open when you’re not towing.

Close-up diagram of the Executive fifth-wheel trailer hitch showing detailed components and connection points, illustrating construction and function of the heavy-duty towing hitch system.

Smoother Towing Every Mile: Built-In Torsion Shock Absorption

Bouncing and chucking can make towing rough on you and your rig. The internal torsion system in this pin box takes care of that. It uses inner bars surrounded by rubber cords that twist and compress to absorb motion in every direction. The result is a stable, controlled ride that limits fore-and-aft jerking and up-and-down jolts. There are no air bags to refill and no small parts to wear out—just a solid, maintenance-free system that keeps things smooth from start to stop.

Strong Enough for Heavy Loads: Rated for 30,000 lbs GTW and 4,500 lbs Pin Weight

This setup is built with heavy-duty steel and engineered to handle serious loads. It’s rated for 30,000 lbs gross towing weight and pin weights from 2,500 lbs to 4,500 lbs. The 2-5/16" ball connection locks up tight with an auto-latching coupler, so you’ll have a confident, positive connection every time you hook up.

Easy Hookup and Simple Install: Auto-Latch and Bolt-On Mounting

Hitching is quick with the self-latching coupler that automatically engages as soon as the ball seats. You don’t have to climb into the bed or wrestle with extra handles. Installation is straightforward too—it bolts on using your trailer’s existing hardware, and filler shims are included to fit securely between the pin box and your trailer’s wings.

Built to Last: Corrosion-Resistant Finish and No-Maintenance Design

The powder coat finish helps the steel resist wear and corrosion through years of towing. With no air system to maintain and fewer moving parts than other shock-absorbing designs, this pin box gives you long-term durability and dependable performance every trip.

I have the Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck auto release paired with the Gen-Y offset plate. 2020 Sierra 2500 crew short bed. I can turn 90 degrees on flat ground. Zero issues backing or driving. Nice ride, better then we had with stock fifth wheel hitch that came on our 2019 Montana High Country. Love this product, great purchase.

Thank you Mike for the fast delivery. It is always a pleasure to shop at your store.

by:

I have not received the pin box yet
Just
the chains, shims, and bolt kit were received
And I have now way to track the pin box

by:

Reduced chucking alot. The longer you tow with it the better it gets.

by:

Best Investment we made for our 5th wheel toy hauler. Smooth ride. Highly recommended.

by:

product delivered quickly and packaging was in tack. installation was pretty easy using a tractor. the ride was much improved over a sliding standard pin box system. this system opens up the rear bed space and and allows the ball to be removed like nothing was ever installed. I used the 4 inch offset from B&W to help turning radius on our short bed Ram also devivered from e- trailer. great customer service

by:

Got it at 8:30 this morning and it’s already installed have not pulled with it yet but very excited

by:

It did the front of my RV sit higher. Not what I wanted to happen. But I like the product.

by:

Great fit well built. Trailer pulls fantastic. I will be putting this on every other fifth wheel i get from now on.

by:

Great product. The fit and finish is perfect. The trailer tows so much smoother and the chucking is almost gone. The extra bed space is a great bonus.

The Gen-Y Executive Shoch Absorbing 5th Wheel to Goosneck pin box is a dream! Very well built and a work of art. This thing drives like a dream even though it hasn't been fully broken in yet with the minimum 1k miles. Installation, we'll doing so on an older RV was challenging especially when adding the required shims, not to mention that I did it by myself in 105 deg weather. I deffinitely recommend having a partner if doing so on an older unit. The good news is that you will now have the freedom of adding a few thing in your bed while travelling and most of all, it cleans up everything, making for a much simpler setup by removing the bulky 5th wheel hitch. Bottom line, if you have a newer 5th Wheel that hasn't been through many travels over the years, this install should be a breeze. Please understand that this gooseneck pinbox is heavy so having a partner help you tremendoulsly, and once installed and torqued to spec, enjoy the smoothest ride I think possible without the worry of potential air leaks or bag failures.

Installed myself on 3322 Attitude 5th Wheel so far so good. It’s hard to tell if I’m getting a better ride but I have had no issues so far I feel like it’s harder to connect to gooseneck because you have to be more accurate when you back up the truck, but The hitch itself is working perfectly as described and no issues on the install either.
I would purchase again since my bed is now clear of any fifth wheel hitch. It’s easy to just drop the ball in there and start pulling the gooseneck, leaving lots of room for other things in the bed.

Great job on the install, this goose box is massive and not easy to install solo. You're right, It can be more difficult to connect with a gooseneck ball compared to a fifth wheel hitch. We do carry some hitch aligner cameras that could make that process easier. I have attached the link of our selection below. I looked up the Attitude and I love how you can configure the bed to use it as a toy hauler! So cool :)

Man,this thing is GREAT! It was 1 day late on delivery, but other than that, it bolted right up using the existing holes, NO DRILLING! I was THRILLED!
It works as advertised, the powder coat paint is awesome, the auto latch works flawlessly. I am very pleased
I would recommend anyone wanting to switch a 5th wheel kingpin to a gooseneck to use Gen-Y. They got their act together!

Shipment was quick and package arrive undamaged. Install was pretty simple install but for having a 2nd person made things a lot easier.

  • 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter for 2007 Dutchmen RV Colorado 32QB
The Gen-Y Hitch 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box like the # GY98GR you looked at is a great option for converting your 5th wheel to a gooseneck. However, unless you have a tapered nose you won't be able to make those 90 degree turns. If you still want to go this route the correct pin box is determined by using the formula GVWR x .22 = TW. Since your GVWR is 12,192 lbs that comes out to 2,682 lbs so you need a 4,500 lb tongue weight model. You can choose from the following based on the pin...

Your Fleetwood Montana High Country uses the Lippert 1116 pin box with a 19000lb rating, so for a gooseneck pin box I recommend the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert 1116/1716 - 25K GTW - 4.5K TW # GY48FR which will be an exact replacement. The only thing you will need to make sure of is that the recessed area around your hitch ball is at least 5" x 5" to allow enough clearance for the Gen-Y to move without interference. I...

  • Do You Need an Offset Ball for a Short Bed F-350 with a Gooseneck Pin Box?
Jim, you’re definitely on the right track here, and I like that you’re thinking ahead about clearance before simplifying your setup. With the rounded front on your Sprinter and your past experience not needing a slider, there’s a good chance you may not need an offset ball, but it’s smart to verify instead of guessing so you don’t run into cab contact in a tight turn. One important thing to keep in mind is the Gen-Y pin box you mentioned part # GY48FR. That particular model is a bit shorter...
